Vaughan residents recently joined Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council to cut the ribbon marking the official opening of Jack Pine Park, which features the City’s first outdoor fitness equipment area.

“We should be proud that, as a City, we can continue to provide safe and beautiful places for children to play, and families to gather and enjoy themselves,” said Mayor Bevilacqua. “As Vaughan’s Active Together Community Champion, I believe that we need to make a real commitment to creating healthy communities. Recreation plays an important role in our lives, and our many parks provide opportunities for our residents to get outside and stay active.”

Jack Pine Park is 2.53 hectares in size and features an outdoor fitness equipment area, skate park, senior and junior playgrounds, mini soccer field, seating plaza and shade structure. It is located at 61 Petticoat Road.

“Jack Pine Park is an investment in our community, and a place I know the residents of our City will come to love and appreciate,” said Ward 4 Councillor Sandra Yeung Racco. “This wonderful park features a number recreational opportunities for adults and children, and will become a focal point for the surrounding neighbourhoods. I would like to remind the community to think of safety first, and I encourage everyone to wear a helmet and other safety equipment while enjoying the skate park.”
