Virtual public meetings continue in April
The City of
Vaughan recognizes the importance of protecting citizens from the global COVID-19
pandemic while also continuing to move the city forward. Supporting this
direction, electronic participation for Committee of the Whole, Council and
task force meetings will continue this month.
Public consultation remains a vital part of the planning and city-building process. There are many ways citizens can participate in meetings and have their say, including:
- speaking live via teleconference to Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council during a meeting. To pre-register to speak at an electronic-participation meeting, fill out the online Request to Speak form by noon on the business day before the meeting for an item listed on the agenda. For a matter not listed on the agenda, refer to the presentation request guidelines (PDF). Participants will be provided instructions on how to connect to the meeting. A test meeting will also be held before every electronic participation meeting to allow participants to test their connection and software. Members of the public can connect through their computer, smartphone or tablet.
- speaking live from a telephone (regular landline or cellphone) during the meeting. To pre-register to speak via telephone, please contact the Office of the City Clerk at clerks@vaughan.ca or call Access Vaughan at 905-832-2281.
- submitting a written communication for review by Members of Council as part of an agenda item. All written communications can be emailed to the Office of the City Clerk at clerks@vaughan.ca.
The following meetings are scheduled to take place virtually in April:
- Committee of the Whole (1) – Tuesday, April 5 at 1 p.m.
- Committee of the Whole (Public Meeting) – Tuesday, April 5 at 7 p.m.
- Committee of the Whole (Working Session) – Wednesday, April 6 at 1 p.m.

Resuming in-person public meetings
Starting on May 3, 2022, with the Committee of Whole (1) meeting at 1 p.m., Committee and Council meetings will transition to a hybrid approach with both in-person and virtual options. Members of Council and the public will have the option to attend in person or remotely.
Pre-registration for speaking in person is encouraged by completing the online Request to Speak Form or calling Access Vaughan at 905-832-2281 by noon on the day before the meeting. In addition, all requests must relate to an agenda item, clearly state the request or message trying to be conveyed and include the participant’s name and contact information. The name and address for any citizens submitting a communication will appear in the public record and be posted online following the meeting. For additional details about submitting a communication or speaking live, visit vaughan.ca/HaveYourSay.
A live stream of all public meetings will continue to be available at vaughan.ca/LiveCouncil.
