Please follow set-out requirements to ensure curbside collection runs smoothly and safely

Due to yesterday’s heavy snowfall in Vaughan, some waste collection routes may not be completed today and will be addressed immediately on Wednesday, Jan. 19 in the morning. Please leave bins out for collection into the evening today as crews may be working later. If your collection is scheduled for today and not picked up by this evening, please ensure bins are set out for 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

The City is also reminding residents about waste bin set-out requirements for the winter to ensure collection can run smoothly, safely and efficiently.

Please ensure your waste is set out properly for winter collection!

  • Where possible, waste should be set out approximately one metre from the curb on the right side of the driveway (when facing the home).
  • Waste bins and bags must be kept off the road.
  • Never place bins or bags on top of or behind snowbanks.

Taking these steps allow crews to safely collect waste and for the City to clear the snow effectively in residential areas.

As a reminder, collection of real Christmas trees has ended for the season. If you missed this collection, real Christmas trees can be dropped off at a York Region Waste Depot that accepts yard waste (fees apply). The Vaughan location is at 130 McCleary Crt. Visit york.ca/WasteDepots for more information.

Artificial trees are collected as garbage and must be bagged. Artificial trees count as one item toward the three-item garbage limit.

Visit vaughan.ca/waste for more information about waste services.
