Email registrationservices@vaughan.ca to book your indoor civil marriage ceremony

It’s time to say “I do” at Vaughan City Hall! As of Monday, May 2, indoor civil marriage ceremonies will resume and outdoor ceremonies and curbside pickup of marriage licences will no longer be offered.

MARRIAGE LICENCES

Marriage licences will be available through the Office of the City Clerk on a walk-in basis Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Residents must present the following at their appointment for the marriage licence to be issued:
  • Marriage Licence Application form (PDF), completed and signed by both applicants
  • Original government-issued identification for both applicants, including a birth certificate or passport, and a valid photo ID such as a driver’s licence or Ontario photo card. Photocopies of documentation are not accepted
  • Licence fee of $170, which can be made payable to the City of Vaughan via cheque
  • Proof of minimum age requirements. Applicants under 18 years of age require written consent from their legal guardian(s)

MARRIAGE CEREMONIES

Couples wishing to be wed at Vaughan City Hall may apply for marriage services through the Office of the City Clerk. To book a ceremony, email registrationservices@vaughan.ca or call 905-832-8504. Bookings may occur up to three months in advance, or at a minimum of two weeks’ notice before the preferred date. Once scheduled, a visit to Vaughan City Hall is required to complete payment and submit a valid Ontario Marriage Licence. At this time, an officiant will be assigned to the ceremony and will reach out to arrange details, including preferred options for vows, through a virtual pre-ceremony consultation.

The City’s Civil Ceremony Information Package (PDF) can be used to help plan the ceremony.
