Welcoming Cortellucci Square
Join us on Dec. 20 in the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre to celebrate this community space
You’re invited to join the City of Vaughan as we celebrate the official naming of Cortellucci Square!
This Ward 4 park, the first public park to open in the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, offers a winter skating loop, splashpad and unique playgrounds. There are also benches, trees for shade, a pavilion with accessible restrooms, a community-use room for events and a Zamboni garage.
Join us for the celebration on Friday, Dec. 20 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. when we rename this exciting community space as Cortellucci Square! The park is located at 300 Maplecrete Rd.
The event will include remarks from Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council who will then unveil the new sign, an interactive DJ and free refreshments. Don’t forget to bring your skates! Weather depending, the skating loop will be open for public use. Get the full play-by-play at vaughan.ca/events.
Members of the public may request the City to name or change the name of City-owned assets in honour of individuals or groups. In this case, the request to rename Edgeley Park to Cortellucci Square recognizes the Cortellucci family’s significant economic and social contributions to the City of Vaughan, particularly their involvement in the development of the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and their philanthropic efforts in the community.
This local park adds to the growing list of outdoor spaces the City has created and enhanced for residents to enjoy. The City continues to expand and make improvements to parks, playgrounds, sports fields, sports courts, splashpads, walking paths and more across the community.
