Welcoming the ‘Queen of Rock and Roll’ to Vaughan

Concerts in the Park continues on July 20 with
a tribute to Tina Turner
The
City of Vaughan's 28th annual Vaughan Celebrates Concerts in the Park series
presented by TD and event sponsor Tim Hortons continues! This free event takes
place throughout the summer and the next concert is on Wednesday, July 20 with
Simply The Best – A tribute to the Queen of Rock and Roll, Tina Turner,
starring Karen Durrant at Chancellor District Park, 430 Chancellor Dr.
This year's
schedule features professional entertainment for all ages with genres like
disco, pop and rock. There are six concerts on select Wednesdays until Aug. 10,
weather permitting, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The upcoming schedule is below:
- Wednesday, July 20 (Ward 3): Simply The Best – A tribute to the Queen of Rock and Roll, Tina Turner, starring Karen Durrant, Chancellor District Park, 430 Chancellor Dr.
- Wednesday, July 27 (Ward 4): Material Girls – Tribute to Lady Gaga, Adele and Cher, Outdoor Amphitheatre, North Thornhill Community Centre, 300 Pleasant Ridge Ave.
- Wednesday, Aug. 10 (Ward 1): The Blushing Brides – The Original Tribute to The Rolling Stones!, Mackenzie Glen District Park, 200 Cranston Park Ave.
The 2022 Concerts in the Park series marks the return of in-person events
in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Concerts in the Park reflects the City's
commitment to active, safe and diverse communities, which is a priority in the
Council-approved 2018-2022 Term of
Council Service Excellence Strategic Plan. By supporting and promoting community
events, arts, culture and heritage, the City is continuing to foster a
welcoming municipality with a high quality of life.
