Family Day is fast approaching, and the City of Vaughan is reminding you about municipal facility closures and alternate hours on Monday, Feb. 17.

Here is everything you need to know to plan ahead:

Municipal facilities

Most facilities – including Vaughan City Hall – will be closed on Monday, Feb. 17, reopening on Tuesday, Feb. 18. Essential services, such as fire and emergency response and by-law and enforcement services, will continue uninterrupted. Non-essential administrative services will resume on Tuesday, Feb. 18, by phone, email, online and in person.

While the City’s in-person contact centre will be closed on Monday, Feb. 17, a live agent will be available by phone at 905-832-2281 to respond to municipal emergencies.

Community centres and recreational programming

Community centres will remain open on Monday, Feb. 17 and operate on modified hours from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Regularly scheduled recreation programs and swim lessons will not operate on Family Day.

Special Family Day programming and activities will be offered at select community centres and Vaughan Studios & Event Space and include a range of family programs such as pickleball, archery, badminton, crafting, Zumba and more. Registration is required at vaughan.perfectmind.com

Family Day recreational swims will take place at the following locations and are subject to standard fees, however, during registration, participants will have the option to donate to RecAssist:

  • Al Palladini Community Centre from 1:15 pm - 2:45 pm

  • Maple Community Centre from 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

  • North Thornhill Community Centre from 1:45 pm - 3:15 pm

All Vaughan community centres are cashless; credit, debit and cheque are the only acceptable forms of payment. Registration and pre-payment are available for convenience seven days in advance at vaughan.perfectmind.com. All proceeds from Family Day programs will be donated to RecAssist, the City’s fee assistance program, which helps low-income families subsidize the cost of recreation programs.
