Vaughan holds memorable 2025 Lunar New Year celebration!
Happy new year! The community joined Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council for the City of Vaughan’s annual Lunar New Year celebration on Feb. 9 at City Hall.
“Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the start of the Year of the Snake with us. It was a memorable afternoon filled with incredible cultural performances, exceptional food and lots of laughter. I hope this year brings health, happiness and joy to members of Vaughan’s Asian community,” said Mayor Steven Del Duca.
Highlights from this year’s event included a traditional lion dance, red envelope greetings, cultural dances and songs, craft-making activities, and plenty of family-friendly music and entertainment.
Also known as the Spring Festival, Lunar New Year is one of the biggest celebrations of the year for those of Asian heritage. It is a time to usher out the old year and welcome a new one filled with luck and prosperity.
In 2025, we recognize the Year of the Snake, which symbolizes personal growth, wisdom, intuition and transformation.
