City service changes from Friday, April 2 through to Monday, April 5
With many Vaughan citizens observing Passover, Good Friday and Easter this weekend, the City of Vaughan is reminding residents of facility closures, modified hours and alternate programming from Friday, April 2 to Monday, April 5.
Municipal facilities
Most facilities – including Vaughan City Hall and the Joint Operations Centre – remain closed until June 2021 at the earliest in response to COVID-19. Non-essential administrative services will resume on Tuesday, April 6, by phone, email or online. Essential services continue uninterrupted.
Community centres and recreational programming
Vaughan community centres will be closed on Friday, April 2 and Sunday, April 4. Fitness classes, recreational/length swimming and aquafitness on those days will be cancelled. Programs and services on Saturday, April 3 and Monday, April 5 will run as scheduled. The vaccination clinic at Maple Community Centre will remain open, by appointment only.
There will also be no virtual Zoom fitness classes from Friday, April 2 to Monday, April 5. Classes will resume online on Tuesday, April 6. However, residents can still enjoy a fun exercise session at home with the free full-length fitness classes (40- to 60-minutes long) available on the recvaughan YouTube channel. For more information, visit vaughan.ca/recreation.
Vaughan Animal Services
The Vaughan Animal Services Shelter remains closed this weekend, but appointment-only adoption and pet recovery services will be available for Saturday, April 3. Residents can still purchase pet licensing tags online through Service Vaughan. For more information, visit vaughan.ca/AnimalServices.
Vaughan Public Libraries
Bathurst Clark, Civic Centre and Pierre Berton resource libraries will be closed on Friday, April 2, Sunday, April 4 and Monday, April 5. These libraries will be open on Saturday, April 3, as per regular business hours. Please note, all other community libraries remain closed and curbside pickup is unavailable at these locations on Friday, April 2 and Monday, April 5. To view holiday programming and hours at a local library branch, see vaughanpl.info.
Waste collection holiday schedule
Waste regularly scheduled for pickup on Friday, April 2 will be moved by one day to Saturday, April 3. Please have waste set out by 7 a.m. For a complete curbside collection schedule, visit vaughan.ca/waste.
Residents can still register online at any time to purchase garbage tags, blue boxes and green bins, and exchange broken City-branded bins through Service Vaughan.
Reminder to residents that during the weeks of April 6 or 13, Double-Up Days will be offered on regular collection days, allowing up to six garbage items without paid tags. Large or bulky items, such as furniture, can also be placed outside for pickup and count as one item towards the limit. All materials must be set out by 7 a.m. on collection day. Read the guidelines for setting out large or bulky items.
With many community members enjoying holiday meals and traditional customs, please refer to the City’s What Goes Where online tool to help determine how to dispose of waste items.
