2024 Mayor’s Gala raises funds for the Spirit of Generosity

Mayor Steven Del Duca issued the following statement after the 2024 Mayor’s Gala, which raises funds in support of the Spirit of Generosity:

“I was thrilled to attend my second annual Mayor’s Gala in support of the Spirit of Generosity, which has contributed millions of dollars to worthy causes throughout our city. I am honoured to carry on this initiative as it continues its meaningful support of more than 200 non-profit and community organizations, including children and youth groups, healthcare initiatives, seniors’ organizations and special needs programs.

“I am grateful to everyone who attended this year’s event and to all those who have supported the Spirit of Generosity throughout the years. 

“Vaughan is an ambitious city with a long and proud history, one that’s been influenced by champions and leaders who are committed to giving back to the community, like many of today’s attendees. 

“Together, we’ve made remarkable progress over the past year, with shovels in the ground to fight gridlock, the approval and funding of the York University School of Medicine and the officially announced future development of a performing and cultural arts centre in the heart of the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre. 

“We’ve made so much progress, and we have no intention of slowing down. 

“Vaughan is a special community, with a can-do determination and a willingness to go the extra mile to get the job done. We’re a community of hard workers, and when we get knocked down or face a challenge, we look out for one another and help each other up. We’re home to generations of families who have sacrificed everything to provide real opportunity and a better future for those who will come next. 

“From every corner of the earth and every walk of life, we have built something magical.

A community that grows, builds and, above all else, cares; a community where ambition and generosity are found in equal measure; and a community that is defined by the way we work together. 

“None of these accomplishments would be possible without you. Our community thrives because of your passion and love for this city, and I want to take a moment to thank you for all that you do, all that you give, for Vaughan.”
