The City offers programs for all ages, interests and abilities at community centres (except for Garnet A. Williams while it remains closed for renovations until 2023), the City Playhouse Theatre and the new Vaughan Studios & Event Space. Registration for fall recreation programs, swim lessons and aquatic leadership courses is open at vaughan.perfectmind.com.

The online registration system is available 24/7 and features enhanced search filters, allowing you to sort by level, location, day and time. Registration began on Thursday, Aug. 25 and fall programming begins on Saturday, Sept. 24. Programs at Dufferin Clark, Rosemount and North Thornhill community centres will start the week of Oct. 3, following the High Holidays.

2. When is my upcoming property tax bill due?

The final property tax bills for residential and non-residential properties have been mailed out to all property owners. The final payment due date for all properties is Wednesday, Sept. 28.

If you do not receive your tax bill in the mail, contact the City immediately by phone at 905-832-2281 or by email at accessvaughan@vaughan.ca.

Be advised all City facilities are now cashless. However, there are still many easy and convenient ways property owners can pay their property tax bills. Payment options include:

  • Drop-off box: Cheque with tax stub can be placed in marked boxes at each entrance of Vaughan City Hall. Cash should not be dropped off in these boxes.
  • Financial institutions: Either in-person, through the bank machine, online or via telephone.
  • In-person at Vaughan City Hall: Payments can only be made by cheque or debit card.
  • Pre-authorized payment plans: An instalment due date plan or a monthly instalment option is offered for the 2022 tax year.
  • Mailed: Cheque made payable to the City of Vaughan and sent in the return envelope enclosed with the tax stub.
  • Post-dated cheques: Cheques that correspond with the amounts and due dates printed on the tax stubs.

4. Is street parking allowed in Vaughan?

By-laws are put in place to ensure a safe and orderly community for all who live, work and play in Vaughan. On-street parking is allowed on any street for up to three hours without a permit between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. – unless otherwise signed by or prohibited by the Parking By-law (PDF). On-street parking is not allowed between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., unless the vehicle has a valid permit for that date, time and location.

The Parking By-law is enforced 24 hours a day, seven days a week, all year long. Enforcement officers patrol the city issuing tickets for parking violations. Parking regulations may also be enforced by York Regional Police.

Parking permit applications are available online at any time. Permits are electronic and do not need to be printed or displayed. Permits are non-transferable between licence plate numbers. Unused permit dates cannot be cancelled and reissued at a later time if the dates have already passed.

5. How can I be put on the Vulnerable Persons Registry?

Vaughan Fire and Rescue Services (VFRS) offers a free voluntary Vulnerable Persons Registry for those who are elderly or have a medical, mental health or physical condition that would require help getting to safety. First responders reference the registry during an emergency, so they know how to provide special assistance to those who need it. Be sure to update this information annually.
