Have a question about a service in Vaughan? Want to know more about a City program? The Service Vaughan team is standing by ready to respond to your inquiries. The City of Vaughan’s contact centre can be reached by phone at 905-832-2281 (toll-free: 1-844-832-2112), email at service@vaughan.ca, online at vaughan.ca/ServiceVaughan or in-person at Vaughan City Hall (2141 Major Mackenzie Dr.).

Every month, the City releases a series called ‘You Asked, We Answered,’ where common questions received and responded to by Service Vaughan are highlighted.

Below are the top five inquiries from December:

1. How can I register my kids for winter recreation programs?

Keep your kids busy and active all season long by registering them for winter recreation programs at vaughan.ca/recreation. You can also sign them up for P.A. Day programs and March Break camps. View the full lineup in the Winter Recreation eGuide. Online registration is available through vaughan.perfectmind.com until 7 a.m. on the day of the first class, after which in-person registration at any City community centre may be requested for select programs. Watch tutorial videos on the Recreation Services YouTube channel to find out more about the online registration system.

2. Where can I find a digital version of my 2024 Waste Collection Schedule?

The 2024 Waste Collection Schedule was mailed out in December. If you prefer to view it on your computer or mobile device, you can view or download a digital version at vaughan.ca/WasteCalendar.

The schedule includes a legend to follow the City’s leaf and yard waste collection, Double-Up Days, Curbside Giveaway Days and more. To further champion the City’s waste diversion efforts, it also has helpful tips on what materials belong in each waste bin.

3. Where do I report missed waste collection?

You can report missed recycling, organics, garbage and leaf and yard waste collection at vaughan.ca/ServiceVaughan under the ‘Garbage and Recycling’ section.

Blue boxes, green bins, garbage and yard waste are collected on your scheduled collection day. Items should be placed at the curb in the morning and no later than 7 a.m. on the day of your scheduled collection. Collectors will not return for materials set out late.

4. How do I pay my taxes without coming to City Hall?

There are many ways to pay your property tax bill:

  • Financial institutions: Either in-person, through the bank machine, online or via telephone.
  • Pre-authorized payment plans: Sign up for one of the City’s pre-authorized payment plans, which offer options for either an instalment due date plan or monthly instalment.
  • Mailed: Cheque made payable to the City of Vaughan and mailed to City Hall (2141 Major Mackenzie Dr.).
  • Post-dated cheques: Cheques that correspond with the amounts and due dates printed on the tax stubs.

If you would like to change or update the ownership on your tax account, the property owner must submit a request in writing through email, drop-box or mail. For more information, contact that tax office through Service Vaughan at 905-832-2281 or email service@vaughan.ca. 5. Is on-street parking allowed in Vaughan?

On-street parking is allowed on any street in Vaughan for up to three hours without a permit between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. – unless otherwise signed or prohibited by the Parking By-law (PDF). On-street parking is not allowed between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., unless the vehicle has a valid permit for that date, time and location.

During the winter, keep parked cars off the street while snowplows are out to help the City clear streets properly and safely. As outlined in the City’s Parking By-law (PDF), on-street parking that interferes with snow-clearing operations is prohibited. Vehicles found in violation may be subject to a $75 fine or towed at the owner’s expense.

Parking permit applications are available online at any time. Permits are electronic and do not need to be printed or displayed. Permits are non-transferable between licence plate numbers. Unused permit dates cannot be cancelled and reissued later if the dates have already passed.
