The Insurance and Risk Management division of the Office of the City Clerk is responsible for three main areas:

  • claim administration
  • risk financing
  • risk control

How to submit a claim

Municipal Act, 2001 S.O. 2001, Section 44, 10 requires that,

A claim must be filed and submitted within 10 days of the incident's occurrence.

To submit a claim, please prepare and submit the claim report form.

Where Do Your Tax Dollars Go?

The property tax bill may come in a City of Vaughan envelope, but less than 30 per cent of property taxes go to the City of Vaughan. Here is a breakdown of how residential property taxes are allocated:

  • $0.51 to York Region
  • $0.28 to City of Vaughan
  • $0.21 to Local School Boards (Province of Ontario for education purposes)

Office of Deputy City Manager, Community Services

Gus Michaels’ career spans more than 36 years in the public sector. He joined the City of Vaughan in 2013 in the role of Director and Chief Licensing Officer, By-law and Compliance, Licensing and Permit Services. In 2021, he was appointed to Deputy City Manager, Community Services, where he continues to lead the highest level of public and customer service while putting public safety and well-being at the forefront.
