The City of Vaughan maintains approximately 1,200 kilometres of community roads through the Pavement Management Program. This program helps fix and preserve city roadways, ensuring safe mobility for everyone who uses them.
The YNSE extends the TTC’s Line 1 service north through the Yonge-Steeles corridor from Finch Station to Markham, Richmond Hill and Vaughan. This inter-regional project will transform the way people travel to and through the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) with approximately eight kilometres of track spanning four additional subway stations.
HR also manages and evaluates pay, develops recommendations about policies and procedures, and ensures compliance with relevant legislation, such as the Province of Ontario’s Employee Standards and the Pay Equity acts. This positions the City to attract and retain qualified employees, while remaining competitive in the labour market.
The City is taking steps to reduce energy use and costs by changing approximately 25,000 streetlights from the current high pressure sodium to light-emitting diode (LED) technology through the City-wide LED Streetlight Retrofit Program.
The Vaughan Mills Centre Secondary Plan will provide a planning framework for an important intensification area in the City of Vaughan. Vaughan Mills Centre is subject to development applications that propose primarily mixed use developments with heights and densities generally higher than what is provided for along Primary Intensification Corridors.

The Weston Road and Highway 7 (Weston 7) area is generally bounded by Fieldstone Drive, Chrislea Road and Portage Parkway to the north; the Highway 400 corridor to the east; the Highway 407 corridor, Rowntree Dairy Road and Trowers Road to the south; and Ansley Grove Road and Whitmore Road to the west.
Through the ongoing Mobility Hub Study, a land-use planning policy framework will be established to support the development of a complete community around a potential GO Station in the study area. A Transportation Master Plan is also being undertaken alongside the Mobility Hub Study that will make recommendations for a multi-modal transportation network to develop a street network, integrate regional and local transit, and address connectivity while providing opportunities for active transportation to support the anticipated growth of the area.
Section 37 of the Planning Act permits municipalities to pass a by-law authorizing increases in height and density of development beyond what is permitted in the relevant zoning by-law in exchange for “facilities, services or matters” set out in the by-law. The City may require the owner to enter into agreements with the municipality regarding the facilities, services or matters being provided and these agreements may be registered on title.
The main purpose of implementing a sustainable development framework in the development review process is to reduce the overall ecological footprint of new developments and redevelopment projects. The Cities of Brampton, Vaughan and Richmond Hill (the municipal Partners) joined together to produce an innovative set of sustainability metrics for use in the planning process.
