As part of the City of Vaughan’s commitment to create and manage affordable housing options while maintaining safety and the existing community’s character, regulations allowing for secondary suites are now in effect. The regulations seek to protect the safety and well-being of all Vaughan citizens.

Before beginning renovations to add a new or upgrade an existing secondary suite, homeowners should,
- understand the safety implications and requirements to obtain building permits
- ensure you hire a City of Vaughan licensed contractor
- request inspections of the construction after a building permit has been issed
