Registered indoor programs

Registered Learn to Play Pickleball and Pickleball Ladder programs are available on a seasonal basis. Learn to Play programs introduce players to the game by teaching the basic rules and skills. Pickleball Ladder programs are a more competitive option for registered programming, where the ranking on a ladder is based upon the players’ winning percentage. Players move up or down the ladder based on their winning percentage. This is a great option for those looking to play at their level (beginner, intermediate and advanced).

The City is currently using the official pickleball rule book (Canadian and American versions).

Recreational drop-in indoor programs

Recreational drop-in programs are a first-come, first-served open forum for different skill levels to practise and participate in game play. Currently, there are seven community centres offering drop-in pickleball programming, with each session running anywhere between one hour and a half to two hours:

  • Al Palladini Community Centre (9201 Islington Ave.)
  • Carrville Community Centre (655 Thomas Cook Ave.) – coming soon!
  • Dufferin Clark Community Centre (1441 Clark Ave. W.)
  • Father E. Bulfon Community Centre (8141 Martin Grove Rd.)
  • Garnet A. Williams Community Centre (501 Clark Ave. W.)
  • Maple Community Centre (10190 Keele St.)
  • North Thornhill Community Centre (300 Pleasant Ridge Ave.)
  • Rosemount Community Centre (1000 New Westminster Dr.)

Indoor play

The City has four indoor arena locations where pickleball is offered for spring, from April 1 to June 29, and summer, from June 30 to Aug. 31:

  • Al Palladini Community Centre (9201 Islington Ave.)
  • Maple Community Centre (10190 Keele St.)
  • Garnet A. Williams Community Centre (501 Clark Ave. W.)
  • Rosemount Community Centre (1000 New Westminster Dr.)

More pickleball courts on the way!

The City is committed to continuing to enhance resident access to racquet sports, including pickleball, which offer a range of important health and social benefits. Based on resident feedback and the increasing popularity of the sport, 30 shared-use and four dedicated pickleball courts have been created thus far, and by the end of 2026, an additional eight dedicated pickleball courts and seven shared-use tennis/pickleball courts are planned to be completed.
