Sign up to enjoy more than 50 FREE fun activities from May 1 to 7
If your kids are between the ages of 10 and 17 years old, sign them up for seven days of fun in recognition of Youth Week – an annual celebration dedicated to empowering and engaging youth!
The City of Vaughan is offering a variety of free activities, workshops and events – designed to foster personal growth, creativity and community engagement among young residents from Thursday, May 1 to Wednesday, May 7.
Registration is recommended and is now available at vaughan.perfectmind.com for Youth Week programming, which will run at 10 of our community centres and the Vaughan Studios & Event Space.
Choose from more than 50 free registered and drop-in activities, including:
Fitness and well-being
Compete in a push up and wall sit challenge, create your own workout program, or participate in a Zumba class, Queenax boot camp or total body conditioning session! Not your speed? Slow it down with nutrition and stress management, yoga and meditation classes.
Throughout Youth Week, each Vaughan Fitness Centre will offer a free fitness day, providing youth ages 13 to 17 years old free access to all fitness centre services, programs and amenities. Registration is not required to use the facilities, however, signed parental consent is mandatory – this can be done at the front desk when you sign in.
Ready to start your fitness journey? Sign up for the Student Summer Fitness Special to get 30 per cent off a one-month membership. This promotion will run from Thursday, May 1 to Sunday, Aug. 31 for students aged 13 to 25 years old. For more information, visit vaughan.ca/fitness.
Sports
Bring a friend or challenge a new opponent and have a good time playing friendly, organized sports games. Whether you’re into archery, badminton, bowling, pickleball, volleyball or recreational skating, these programs will help you stay active and have fun!
Prefer to shoot some hoops? Showcase your ball-handling skills in a three-on-three basketball tournament, while enjoying free pizza and gift card giveaways! Teams will be made on-site. For programs, times and locations, visit vaughan.ca/YouthWeek.
Aquatics
Interested in diving into new challenges or having a relaxing swim around the pool? Look no further! From pool parties and length and recreational swims to a fitness challenge and line throw challenge, you can put your aquatic skills to the ultimate test.
Want to learn how to respond to and stay safe in an emergency? Learn basic CPR and AED concepts that could save someone’s life. Please note, this is an interactive discussion and not a certification program. View all available programs at vaughan.ca/YouthWeek.
Enrichment
Love to get creative and build new things? Join us for hands-on robotics: LEGO® SPIKE™ Prime, stop motion animation, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and game design workshops!
Culinary
Grab your chef’s hat and apron, and get your taste buds ready as you bake your own pizza croissants!
Creative
Get crafty with the Paint Your Own Pottery: Celebrating YOUth workshop which includes one ready-to-paint pottery piece and painting supplies. The cost of this program is $5. Delivered in partnership with Mess for Fun.
Community service
Need to complete your volunteer or community service hours? Curious about how you can give back to the community? Learn everything you need to know about how easy it is to sign up, the exciting opportunities to get involved, how you’ll spend your time and the pathway to becoming a valued future member of our team at the Venture into Volunteering: A Preview workshop.
Inclusion
Immerse yourself in a storytelling adventure with magical interactive tales, create mouth-watering culinary creations or join us for an artistic adventure art workshop.
Score big during Youth Week
To turn up the excitement during Youth Week, three major events will feature epic prize draws: the Rock and Bowl kick-off event, the Pool Party and the Rock and Skate wrap-up event. You won’t want to miss out!
