Become a school crossing guard in Vaughan!

The City of Vaughan is recruiting individuals who have a passion for road safety and want to make a difference in the community. If this sounds like you or someone you know, apply to become a school crossing guard for the 2022/23 school year! This is an important job that helps children and families safely travel to and from school each day.

With more than 114 crosswalk locations throughout Vaughan, full-time and standby crossing guards are needed to serve all locations. Being a school crossing guard is not only a rewarding occupation – it also offers a flexible work schedule.

Here are a few fun facts about working as a crossing guard in Vaughan:

  • Crossing guards may work up to three shifts per day – one in the morning, one at lunch and one in the afternoon; however, most locations only have two shifts per day.
  • Shift times vary depending on location and range between 35 to 90 minutes.
  • There are crosswalk locations in Concord, Kleinburg, Maple, Thornhill and Woodbridge. You can also view a map of all crossing guard locations in Vaughan, including school bell times.

Safety in school zones is a joint priority for the City's Transportation and Fleet Management Services, By-law and Compliance, Licensing and Permit Services and Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service departments.
