Vaughan wants your smARTcities ideas

Bridging the gap between art and science helps to create a place where people can live happy, healthy and fulfilling lives. Artists of all ages from the city of Vaughan and the Greater Toronto Area are invited to submit their digital interpretations of the transformative role of smARTcities for inclusion in the creation of a MEGAsmARTcities digital map collaboration. Submissions are being accepted until Sept. 28, 2018.

Currently on display at Vaughan City Hall is smARTcities: exploring the digital frontier art exhibition featuring the work of artist Ron Wild. It displays multi-dimensional smart mapping collages that bridge art and science. It strives to spark ideas and insights by creating vibrant mash-ups of layers of mathematical and scientific imagery.

Vaughan is realizing its vision for a smart city with a focus on prosperity, inclusivity and resiliency to ensure long-term economic vitality. It is adopting and applying new technologies consistent with priorities defined by citizen collaboration.

Vaughan is also participating in the Government of Canada’s Smart Cities Challenge. It calls on communities to use a smart cities approach to address local issues their residents face through new partnerships. This means achieving meaningful outcomes for citizens, businesses and visitors using data and connected technology. People can share their big ideas by completing the City’s online engagement survey. As part of the Smart Cities Challenge, the City could qualify to win one of two prizes of up to $10 million for communities.
