Currently on display at Vaughan City Hall
is smARTcities: exploring the digital frontier art
exhibition featuring the work of artist Ron Wild. It displays multi-dimensional
smart mapping collages that bridge art and science. It strives to spark ideas
and insights by creating vibrant mash-ups of layers of mathematical and
scientific imagery.
Vaughan is realizing its vision for a
smart city with a focus on prosperity, inclusivity and resiliency to ensure
long-term economic vitality. It is adopting and applying new technologies
consistent with priorities defined by citizen collaboration.
Vaughan is also participating in the
Government of Canada’s Smart Cities Challenge. It calls on communities to use a
smart cities approach to address local issues their residents face through new
partnerships. This means achieving meaningful outcomes for citizens, businesses
and visitors using data and connected technology. People can share their big ideas by
completing the City’s online
engagement survey. As part of the Smart Cities Challenge, the City
could qualify to win one of two prizes of up to $10 million for communities.
QUOTE
“Vaughan is blessed to be home to citizens of
all ages who are gifted, talented and admired visionaries. The MEGAsmARTcities
digital map collaboration is a city-wide call to action that invites our
community to come forward to share their bold ideas and shining creativity that
will ultimately help us develop and express new solutions to safeguard and care
for the human condition. As we build a stronger, brighter future for Vaughan,
we must continue to empower citizens to express themselves and to have their
voices heard. Working to become a smart city remains an ongoing opportunity to
further enhance and encourage civic engagement.”
