Cultural Exhibits At City Hall Celebrate Italian Heritage Month

During Italian Heritage Month in June, residents and visitors are invited to view Italian-Canadian cultural heritage exhibits on display in the atrium of Vaughan City Hall.
 
Exhibits include:
 
• A pictorial exhibit, entitled “Immigration Passo dopo Passo,” examines the historical journey of Italian citizens’ integration and immigration to Canada, presented by the AMICI Museum and Italian-Canadian Archive Project.
Date: May 28 to June 8
 
• “Dante – il suo mondo” is a multimedia look at the life and times of Dante Alighieri, presented by Centro Scuola and the AMICI Museum, and “Musica…Musica…Tanta Musica,” highlights the historical journey of Italian-Canadian music through the ages. 
Date: May 28 to July 6
 
• “Italy Now, Architecture in Italy 2000-2010” is an exhibit comprised of 104 architectural photographic panels depicting Italy’s architectural developments spanning a decade, presented by Insituto Italiano di Cultura in Canada.
Date: May 28 to June 29
 
• An exhibit entitled “Legacies,” presented by Gina Valle of Diversity Matters and the AMICI Museum, is a photographic display from her book “Our Grandmother Ourselves: Reflections of Canadian Women,” portraying the lives of Canadian women, their strength and wisdom in overcoming unimaginable odds of war, poverty and immigration to a new country. Located in the Vaughan atrium gallery, “On the Slate.”
Date: May 28 to June 15
 
• “Viva Vitalita” features creative expression and masterpieces by Italian-Canadian artists, presented by NCIC of Toronto and the AMICI Museum. Located in the Vaughan atrium gallery, “On the Slate.”
Date: June 18 to July 6
