A community centre is the heart of your neighbourhood. It is a place to gather with friends, try new activities, play sports and have fun. But have you ever wondered what else there is to do there?

On Sunday, Sept. 10, you are invited to visit your local community centre and explore the different amenities available to you and your family. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., all community centres and the Vaughan Studios & Event Space will open their doors and offer free activities, giveaways and informal tours. Come and discover the many City-operated recreation programs and amenities available in your neighbourhood, including:

  • arts and crafts
  • basketball
  • bocce
  • CPR demonstrations by lifeguards
  • fitness classes (yoga, Zumba)
  • game rooms featuring billiards, foosball, air hockey, Xbox and Wii
  • gymnastics and dance
  • outdoor trekking pole walks, weather permitting
  • pickleball, squash
  • STEM programs

Free access to regularly scheduled recreational swimming and sports, as well as fitness centres will be available to non-members that day, where available.

We will be there to share information about our recreation services programs and memberships, as well as part-time job opportunities. Staff will also assist with on-the-spot registration for fall recreation programs and swim lessons, which start on Saturday, Sept. 23.

If you don’t have an online recreation account and choose to sign-up for one on-site, you will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win a $100 recreation gift card that can be used toward the purchase of any program, camp or membership.
