Get ready to make a splash!

The Thornhill Outdoor Pool opens on June 15

Temperatures are rising, which means it’s time to grab your swim gear and make a splash! The City of Vaughan’s Thornhill Outdoor Pool, located at 26 Old Yonge St., will open on a modified schedule starting Saturday, June 15. The facility features a 30-metre, five-lane swimming pool and accessible shallow water wading pool with beach entry. To mark the start of the season, the opening day will feature music, water games and free freezies (while supplies last). 

For the remainder of June, the City’s outdoor pool will offer the following programs on weekends only: 

• Aquafitness from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
• Length swim from 11 a.m. to noon
• Rec swim from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

The outdoor pool will open daily starting on Canada Day, Monday, July 1, operating on the following holiday schedule: 

• Aquafitness from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
• Length swim from 11 a.m. to noon
• Recreational swims at 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., 2:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. 

The full schedule takes effect on Tuesday, July 2 through Monday, Sept. 2, and includes designated times for recreational, length and parent and tot swims as well as aquafitness classes: 

Aquafitness:

• Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
• Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.
• Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. 
• Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:15 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Length swim:

• Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., 9:45a.m. to 10:45 a.m., 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
• Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 11a.m. to noon
• Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Parent and tot:

• Monday to Friday from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. 
• Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 11 a.m.to noon

Recreational swim:

• Monday to Friday from noon to 2 p.m., 2:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
• Saturday and Sunday from 12:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Registration and pre-payment are available for your convenience one week in advance of all scheduled swims at vaughan.perfectmind.com. Limited spots will be available for walk-ins prior to the start of a recreational activity.
