It’s Family Day, and you may be looking for some fun activities to keep everyone entertained. Your search ends here! Discover the countless ways you can spend quality time with your family and be active – from skating on one of our outdoor rinks to exploring scenic walking trails and more – there’s plenty to do in Vaughan.

 

Outdoor skating rinks
Enjoy the crisp winter air and skate for free on one of the City’s outdoor ice rinks:

  • Chancellor Community Centre (350 Ansley Grove Rd.)
  • Dufferin Clark Community Centre (1441 Clark Ave. W.)
  • Father Ermanno Bulfon Community Centre (8141 Martin Grove Rd.)
  • Garnet A. Williams Community Centre (501 Clark Ave. W.)
  • North Thornhill Community Centre (300 Pleasant Ridge Ave.)
  • Secord Park (65 Secord Ave.)
  • The Sports Village skating trail (2600 Rutherford Rd.)
  • Vellore Village Community Centre (1 Villa Royale Ave.)

 

Weather permitting, all outdoor rinks are open until 11 p.m. 

 

For the enjoyment and safety of all skaters, please follow the City’s Skating Rink Guidelines (PDF). Rinks are unsupervised unless otherwise stated in the Outdoor Rinks Supervised Hours schedule.

Recreational programming

Special Family Day programming and activities are offered at select locations today until 4 p.m. Have your pick at archery, badminton, crafting, Zumba and more. Register now at vaughan.perfectmind.com.

 

Half-price recreational swimming and $5 drop-in family sports and activities are also being offered at community centres across the city. A reminder that all community centres are cashless; credit, debit and cheque are the only acceptable forms of payment. Registration and pre-payment are available at vaughan.perfectmind.com. All proceeds from our Family Day programs will be donated to RecAssist, the City’s fee assistance program which helps low-income families subsidize the cost of recreation programs.

In addition to the Great Walks of Vaughan, our city has many other local trails to explore, including the Bartley Smith Greenway, the William Granger Greenway (Humber Trail), the Nashville Conservation Reserve Trails and the Vaughan Super Trail. Vaughan Public Libraries

This Family Day, kids can join in the fun at Maple Library, Pleasant Ridge Library and Vellore Village Library with a Mad Science Show! Visit Vaughan Public Libraries website for more information and specific start times.
