Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, Members of Council and City staff raised $11,096 to support heart disease and stroke research by participating in the Heart & Stroke Foundation's Big Bike team event.

The event featured 116 participants divided into four teams. Each team cycled through Vaughan on a four-wheel, 29-seat bike. The bike route left City Hall, travelled west on Major Mackenzie, south on Keele Street, west on Naylon Street, north on Gram Street and east on Major Mackenzie to City Hall.

As a safety precaution, each team was escorted by a York Regional Police cruiser. City teams included the Rec Rolls, Buccaneers, Tour de Fleurs and the Vaughan Beats. The winning team, selected by the Heart & Stroke Foundation and based on team spirit, was the Buccaneers.
