Take a break from back-to-school preparations and make the most of the last long weekend of the summer. City of Vaughan municipal offices and community centres will be closed on Monday, Sept. 4 for the holiday, but don’t worry – the city still has plenty to offer. Here are some activities for fun and relaxation during the Labour Day weekend:
Take a break from back-to-school preparations and make the most of the last long weekend of the summer. City of Vaughan municipal offices and community centres will be closed on Monday, Sept. 4 for the holiday, but don’t worry – the city still has plenty to offer. Here are some activities for fun and relaxation during the Labour Day weekend:
- Enjoy the outdoors at one of Vaughan’s 17 splash pads or the Thornhill Outdoor Pool.
- Visit a local park or playground with your family and friends.
- Plan a trip to the McMichael Canadian Art Collection — the gallery offers indoor and outdoor works of art.
- Pack a picnic and head off to the Kortright Centre for Conservation to learn about the environment and take in the natural playground.
Before
making your plans, check out the City’s facility closures:
- Vaughan City Hall, the Joint Operations Centre and Vaughan Animal Services will be closed on Monday, Sept. 4.
- Vaughan community centres and swimming pools will be closed on Monday, Sept. 4, except for the Thornhill Outdoor Pool, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for length swim and parent and tot swim, and from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for recreational swimming.
- Vaughan Public Libraries will be closed on Sunday, Sept. 3 and Monday, Sept. 4.
Reminders:
- Waste collection will not be affected and will continue as regularly scheduled.
- The City of Vaughan has a fireworks by-law that allows family fireworks on Victoria Day and Canada Day only. For displays on other days, residents must apply for a permit from Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service.
