Learn how the City’s award-winning team acquires goods, services and more

The City of Vaughan is a leader in procurement services and strives for the highest standard of ethical practice in all business relationships with suppliers and contractors. In 2020, Vaughan Council proclaimed March as National Procurement Month on an annual basis to honour and recognize the valuable work staff do to keep the City moving

Vaughan’s Procurement Services department plays an important role in driving value for money for the City and its citizens through fair competition and leading procurement practices. The department is responsible for the acquisition of goods, services, capital construction projects and equipment for the City and Vaughan Public Libraries.

To secure goods and services, the City uses a competitive process through which businesses can bid for work. The City’s Procurement Services department posts new bid opportunities to the dedicated bids and tenders website, allowing easy access to register for open bid opportunities.

The efforts of this team are being recognized! In October 2020, the City received the Quality Public Procurement Department Accreditation Award from the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing. This accreditation extends for three years until June 2023. It recognizes excellence in public procurement and is presented to organizations that elevate the procurement profession's standard of practice and realize greater credibility and recognition for their procurement department.

The City also received the 2022 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Procurement Institute for the fifth consecutive year. This award is earned by public and non-profit agencies that demonstrate a commitment to procurement excellence. The annual program recognizes procurement organizations that embrace innovation, professionalism, productivity, leadership and E-Procurement. The award is a third-party validation the City obtained at a high level of excellence.

This award demonstrates the City's dedication to implementing best practices to guarantee fiscal sustainability and credibility while safeguarding investments for the high-quality public services the community relies on each day.
