The City of Vaughan now has a new off-leash dog area for you and your furry friends to enjoy! The latest off-leash dog park is now open within Mackenzie Valley Park, located at 5851 Major Mackenzie Dr.

This pet-friendly space is Vaughan’s second primary off-leash dog location, complementing the existing primary location at Concord/Thornhill Regional Park (299 Racco Pkwy). The approximately one-hectare (2.5-acre) area welcomes dogs of all sizes, with separate spaces for large and small breeds. New fencing, signage, accessible pathway connections, shade structures, benches and garbage bins have been installed onsite, along with a new parking lot that can accommodate up to 35 vehicles.

Be advised, this off-leash location closes daily at 11 p.m. Some areas remain fenced off for seed rehabilitation to restore lands damaged during construction and are expected to open in spring 2025.

Keep off-leash areas safe

All off-leash dog areas in Vaughan are secured, fenced-in spaces where dogs and their families can get exercise outdoors, socialize and roam free – safely. Each of the City’s off-leash spaces have a double-gate entry area providing safe access for residents with dogs. This fenced area is always separated from playgrounds and other park facilities. These spaces enable dogs, their families and park visitors to safely co-exist and enjoy all that Vaughan’s outdoor amenities have to offer. To read more about Off-Leash Zone Regulations, see the Animal Control By-law (PDF). For general Animal Services information, visit vaughan.ca/AnimalServices.
