Do your kids have plans for the last P.A. Day of the school year on Friday, June 7? If not, we have you covered! The City of Vaughan is offering full-day programming for children aged four to 14 years old at select community centres. Registration is required at vaughan.perfectmind.com.

 

Programs and camps include:
 

School’s Out! (for kids aged seven to 12 years old) 

Looking for a fun way to pass your P.A. Day? Enjoy a day of camp activities, including games, sports, arts and crafts, outdoor play and special events while making new friends! All participants are required to bring a nut-free lunch and two snacks with a water bottle, indoor running shoes and appropriate clothing for outdoor play. This P.A. Day program is available at four locations:

 

Cartoon Computer Animation (for kids aged six to 11 years old)

Delivered in partnership with Kids Great Minds. Dive into STEAM and the creative world of cartoon animation! Bring your stories to life: learn the basics of animation design to experience what a great animator you can become! Work in a guided and computerized environment to express yourself through animated storylines. Learn storyboarding, create short computer animated cartoons, television shows or movies, and develop logical thinking skills. This P.A. Day program is available at North Thornhill Community Centre (register now!).

 

Hands-on Robotics: LEGO® SPIKE™ Prime (for kids aged nine to 13 years old)

Delivered in partnership with Logic Fusion. Twist, turn, spin! ‘Lego’ and relax as you watch your SPIKE™ Prime robot come to life! Learn how to build and program your robot using the newest LEGO® SPIKE™ Prime system with LEGO bricks, motors and sensors. Think critically and ‘click together’ in a team environment while building your knowledge of STEAM. This P.A. Day program is available at Maple Community Centre (register now!).

 

Junior Inventors (for kids aged four to seven years old)

Delivered in partnership with Engineering for Kids. A full day of innovation, brainstorming, creativity and engineering! Experience both the design and programming part of being a robotics engineer. Explore the engineering principles behind modern inventions and using simple materials, your imagination and ingenuity, create your own inventions. Daily outdoor activities are planned, weather permitting. This P.A. Day program is available at Maple Community Centre (register now!).

 

STEM Ozobot (for kids aged seven to 11 years old)

Delivered in partnership with Logic Fusion. The Ozobot  the world's tinniest toy robot  teaches kids programming, plus the principles of STEM. The small robot uses OzoBlockly, a drag and drop programming language, to introduce students to coding basics and advance their skills. Educational and entertaining, students get to watch their code come to life as they learn to program their Ozobot to complete different activities. This P.A. Day program is available at Garnet A. Williams Community Centre (register now!).

 

Paint Your Own Pottery: Spring-themed Mugs and Plates (for kids aged three to 14 years old)

Delivered in partnership with Mess for Fun. All fired up to create beautiful art on your day off school? Paint your own one-of-a-kind piece of pottery. Apply your unique artistic style with pottery paint and leave your finished creative gem with us. Afterwards, we will glaze and fire your pottery in a kiln. The completed masterpiece will be packaged and ready for pick-up the following week. Note: Workshop includes one ‘ready to paint’ themed pottery piece and supplies. Children aged three to six years old must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Mess for Fun reserves the right to provide a comparable pottery piece option if the advertised pottery piece is not available the day of the workshop. This P.A. Day program is available from 10 a.m. to noon at Vellore Village Community Centre (register now!).

There is still time to register for summer camps! 

Plan ahead for a summer to remember! While you’re searching for fun P.A. Day activities, why not register your kids for Vaughan’s summer camps? There are plenty of summer camp offerings for kids with specialties in creative, culinary and performing arts, enrichment, leadership, recreation, sports, and outdoor and water adventures. 

 

Limited spots are left in select camps. Register now at vaughan.perfectmind.com! Camps begin on Tuesday, July 2 with one- and two-week sessions running until Friday, Aug. 30. Camps are located at Vaughan community centres, heritage homes, parks, the City Playhouse Theatre and Vaughan Studios & Event Space for children ages four to 16 years old.

 

Give your kid the outdoor adventure of a lifetime at Camp Corral

Camp Corral, Vaughan’s premier horseback riding summer camp for young and adventurous campers aged seven to 14 years old, is held at Pathways on Pleasure Valley. This western-style riding ranch boasts 225 of the most breathtaking and tranquil horseback riding forest trails, a charming lodge, an indoor arena, well-kept grounds and compassionate horsemanship practices. Gear up for specialized programming promoting physical activity, lifelong friendships and connection with nature and the great outdoors.
