City’s annual awards ceremony held during National Volunteer Week

Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council came together on April 9 to honour outstanding community leaders during the annual Volunteer Recognition Awards ceremony at Vaughan City Hall.

This event celebrates National Volunteer Week and demonstrates the appreciation the community has for the many selfless citizens who generously offer their time, unique skills and experience for the betterment of this city.

In total, 70 community volunteers were recognized during the ceremony. Each of them contributed in their own unique way, whether it was raising money for worthy causes, protecting the environment or being there for someone in need.

Strong communities are built with the help of dedicated volunteers and the City of Vaughan is proud to recognize the efforts of those who step in and step up to contribute to an even more vibrant civic life.

QUOTE

“Anyone who has experienced the care and compassion of a volunteer truly understands the invaluable contributions they make to our community’s quality of life and overall well-being. As a city, we stand united in our belief that these dedicated individuals are among our most cherished human resources. Our City has chosen to shine a spotlight on this inspiring altruism, without which many of the worthy causes in our community would suffer. I express my heartfelt gratitude to all those who have chosen to advocate for our many great initiatives. Volunteers embody the spirit of generosity that defines Vaughan and we are grateful for the positive impact they make every day.”
