Mayor Bevilacqua marks National Public Service Week
Vaughan
employees continuously demonstrate commitment to Service Excellence
Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua
issued the following statement to recognize the beginning of National Public
Service Week:
“National Public Service
Week is dedicated to celebrating the contributions of individuals who work hard
on behalf of residents here in Vaughan, as well as Canadians across the
country.
“In Vaughan, we are
blessed to have a team of professionals who remain fiercely committed to
creating policies, programs and services that enable our city to run
effectively and efficiently every day.
“The recently approved
2018-2022 Term of Council Service Excellence Strategic Plan is guiding our
team’s efforts as we continue building on the tremendous success and momentum
we have achieved throughout the past eight years.
“This plan – which
reinforces the City’s mission, vision, values and strategic priorities – will
direct the work undertaken by Vaughan’s professional administration to
successfully go above and beyond to implement Council-approved city-building
initiatives throughout the remainder of this term.
“From fire services,
libraries and recreation, to arts and culture, parks maintenance and waste
collection, Vaughan employees remain at the forefront of service delivery and
residents have responded favourably to their efforts. In our most recent
Citizen Satisfaction Survey, 97 per cent of residents agree that the quality of
life is good in Vaughan and an overwhelming majority are pleased with the
delivery of all services provided by the City.
“Public service is more
than simply a job. It is a vocation. I believe that there is no greater calling
than to be of service to others and no higher purpose than to make a difference
to people’s lives.
“As a Council, we have
committed ourselves to the noble values of public service, expressed publicly
in our Oath of Office at the beginning of the 2018-2022 Term of Council and
reaffirmed once again in the Vaughan Accord, a pledge that commits all Members
of Council to serve in a manner that makes respect, transparency and
accountability the cornerstone of every effort that is undertaken.
“I want to express my
warmest and sincerest gratitude to the thousands of public servants in Vaughan
and across this great nation for their unwavering dedication to service
excellence, teamwork and integrity.
Thanks to you, Vaughan is the place to be!”
