Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua: Statement on Passing of Former Finance Minister Jim Flaherty

It is with great sadness that I express to the family of Jim Flaherty my most sincere condolences during this very challenging time.
I had the privilege of working with Mr. Flaherty in the House of Commons and knew him as a man of character and integrity who possessed a genuine passion for public life. As one of Canada’s longest serving finance ministers, he will be fondly remembered for his many years of service as a Member of the Ontario Legislature, Member of Parliament and Finance Minister.
An authentic and genuine individual with a deep love of family, community and country, he has made a significant difference to Canada and the world.
On behalf of the City of Vaughan, I express our most heartfelt gratitude for his contribution.
