A sold-out field of golfers teed up at the Copper Creek Golf Club in Vaughan for the Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua Annual Charity Golf Classic on Tuesday, July 9. The tournament was an overwhelming success, raising more than $130,000 for not-for-profit and community organizations.

“Once again this year the community came together to support the many organizations that are at the heart of what makes our City great,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their spirit of generosity – it makes a difference to the lives of many and moves this city forward without leaving anyone behind. We’re building a great City and together we are creating a better future for everyone.”

The tournament featured hole-in-one, closest to the pin and longest drive contests, as well as a silent auction. The highlight of the event was a million-dollar shootout that gave players an opportunity to attempt a hole-in-one for $1 million. Support was received from the local business community through corporate and media sponsorship, product donations and silent auction items.

“The success of this tournament would not have been possible without the contribution of many people,” said Brian Bentz, President and CEO of PowerStream and Chair of the golf committee. “I would like to express my gratitude to the committee members, volunteers and donors for their hard work and dedication in making this annual event a resounding success.”
