Vaughan’s online events have drawn thousands to enjoy memorable entertainment from the safety of home

As the City of Vaughan continues to navigate the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it has pivoted to ensure residents are still able to attend events throughout the year from the comfort and safety of their home. Since the beginning of the pandemic, staff quickly adapted to provide the same quality entertainment and memorable events online for everyone to enjoy.

Earlier this year, the City held its first virtual Vaughan Celebrates Canada Day featuring Barenaked Ladies, expanded the Vaughan Culture Days celebration with a month of online activities and programs, and honoured those who made the ultimate sacrifice with a virtual Remembrance Day ceremony. Thousands of people joined in online from Vaughan and beyond to enjoy and participate in these events.

As 2020 comes to an end, there are still many online events to come, including:

Concerts in the Park
The 26th annual Vaughan Celebrates Concerts in the Park wraps up this week. Originally planned to take place over the summer, the events were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The series runs at vaughan.ca/concerts with the final concert tonight at 7 p.m. featuring Beach Party Boys – A Tribute to the Beach Boys.

This year, 42 recipients will be recognized and each will receive, via mail, a volunteer recognition certificate, congratulatory letter and lapel pin from Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua.
