Sign your kids up for Vaughan’s P.A. Day programming

Register now for arts and crafts, games, sports and more on Friday, Oct. 21!

Do you have plans for your kids for the upcoming P.A. Day on Friday, Oct. 21? If not, you’re in luck! The City of Vaughan is offering programming for children aged seven to 13 at select community centres throughout the city.

Kids can spend the day enjoying a variety of programs including arts and crafts, games, sports, pastel drawing, robotics, outdoor play (weather permitting) and learning squash. Pre-registration is required at vaughan.perfectmind.com. For more information, visit vaughan.ca/camps.

Programs include:
School’s Out! (for ages seven to 12 years old)
Enjoy a day of camp activities, including games, sports, arts and crafts, outdoor play and special events while making new friends!
Locations: Chancellor, Maple, North Thornhill and Vellore Village community centres from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Conquer the Court: Squash (for ages nine to 13 years old)
Ready to “squash” your opponent? Learn how to play squash from a pro – from game rules and tactics to practicing stroke techniques through drills tailored to individual ability. Off the court, challenge yourself to fitness activities, and get cross-training and nutrition advice to strengthen your squash game.
Locations: Al Palladini and Maple community centres from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Hands-on Robotics: Beginner Workshop (for ages nine to 12 years old)
Enter the exciting world of LEGO® robotics! Build several robots based on one of these themes: animals (creatures of all kinds) or transportation (cars/vehicles).
Location: Maple Community Centre from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

World of Dinosaurs: Pastel Drawing (for ages seven to 13 years old)
Travel back in time to the land of lost creatures. Learn pastel drawing and texturing techniques to illustrate different types of dinosaurs in varying artistic styles ranging from realism, graphic and cartoon.
Locations: Maple and North Thornhill community centres from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Vellore Village Community Centre from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Family swim lesson (for ages three and up)
Learn introductory, survival swim instruction as a family in this one-time, learn-to-swim session, designed for swimmers of all levels. The swim instructor will assess what swim level each family member should register in. Note: individual registration is required for each family member. Registration includes access to recreational swimming following the lesson. Regular admission guidelines apply for swim participants nine years of age and under. 
Locations: Chancellor and Maple pools for $10 per family member. 

Drop-in activities
Recreational swimming, skating, sports and game rooms are also available on Friday, Oct. 21 at community centres across the city. View schedules at vaughan.perfectmind.com. Pre-registration and pre-payment are available for your convenience one week before the scheduled activity.
