Some park amenities are closing for the season
As fall’s crisp breeze rustles through the leaves, we are preparing to close our park amenities for the season. But that doesn’t mean the outdoor fun is coming to an end! There’s plenty of time to embrace the beauty of our community and continue enjoying Vaughan’s great outdoors.
The following amenities will remain open until the end of November 2023, weather permitting:
Basketball courts
Bocce courts
Outdoor fitness stations
Playgrounds
Skateboard parks
Tennis and pickleball courts
Artificial soccer fields are open, weather permitting, until Friday, Dec. 1, 2023.
The following amenities are now closed for the season:
Baseball diamonds
Natural grass soccer fields
Volleyball courts
All washroom facilities in City parks will remain open until Monday, Oct. 30. Please note the washrooms at Matthew Park (1 Villa Royale Ave.) are closed for the season.
Parking lots at parks will close Wednesday, Nov. 1, except the lots located at North Thornhill Regional Park, Concord Thornhill Regional Park, Mackenzie Glen District Park, Sugarbush Heritage Park and Bindertwine Park and Giovanni Caboto Park.
Please note, aside from walkways and portable washrooms, park amenities are not maintained throughout the winter. You may notice leaves on the ground in our parks while you’re out enjoying a stroll. By allowing leaves to decompose naturally, it helps to enrich the soil and grass with nutrients and support the local ecosystem as an organic matter source.
The City’s off-leash dog parks, listed below, remain open all year:
Concord/Thornhill Regional Park (299 Racco Pkwy.)
Giovanni Caboto Park (75 Matthew Dr.)
Legion Park (70 Legion Court Rd.)
Mackenzie Glen District Park (220 Cranston Park Ave.)
Matthew Park (1 Villa Royale Ave.)
Sugarbush Heritage Park (91 Thornhill Woods Dr.)
Visit vaughan.ca/parks for a list of seasonal park and amenity closures.
