Sports Organizations Provide Insight At Second Annual Sports Congress

The City of Vaughan held its second annual Sports Congress on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at City Hall, where community sports organizations were invited to participate in the Active Together Master Plan Review and Update.

The session, led by Monteith Brown Planning Consultants, offered Vaughan community sports organization administrators the opportunity to provide input on existing and future sporting facility needs. Topics discussed included trends in sport participation; changes facing sports groups; levels of satisfaction with the facility and park supply and the City's role in helping sports groups meet the needs of residents.

The City is currently seeking public input for the review and update of the Active Together Master plan, last revised in 2008. This public consultation is one of many City-hosted events as Vaughan looks at how its parks, recreation and library facilities are provided to the community through the review of the plan. Working with Monteith Brown Planning Consultants, an updated blueprint will be developed to ensure that City services and facilities meet the demand and needs of residents now and until 2031 and beyond.
