‘Spring’ into Vaughan’s recreation and swim programs!
Session begins on March 22
Warmer weather is on its way, which means it’s time to start planning ahead to keep busy and active this spring! Check out the City of Vaughan’s full lineup of recreation programs, swim lessons and aquatic leadership courses in the Spring Recreation eGuide before it’s time to register!
Recreation programs
Registration for spring recreation programs opens at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20 at vaughan.perfectmind.com. Programming begins Saturday, March 22 at all community centres and the Vaughan Studios & Event Space.
Here are some program highlights!
- Family (parent and child): cooking and baking, toddler playtime, making music, painting, Zumba, bootcamp with baby, body reshaping with baby, Pilates with baby, yoga, mindfulness, dance, musical jam sessions, learn to play tennis, archery, badminton, toddler boot camp and multi-sport
- Preschool: visual arts, arts and crafts, cooking and baking, Disney- and superhero-themed fitness, mindfulness, karate, taekwondo, dance (ballroom, kinderdance, ballet, hip hop and jazz), theatre, STEM, robotics, little naturalists, skating, ball hockey, T-Ball, basketball, gymnastics, multi-sport, soccer and Vaughan Playschool spring programs (French, Hebrew, Italian, math, reading and writing, science and more)
- Children: drawing, arts and crafts, painting, cooking and baking, French, poetry, spelling, cursive writing, chess, circuit training, mindfulness, karate, taekwondo, dance (ballroom and hip hop), ukelele, guitar, piano, glee club, cartoon animation, 3D design, virtual reality, game design, robotics, AIM, circuit design, STEM, coding, engineering, web development, skating, archery, baseball, basketball, gymnastics, multi-sport, pickleball, squash, tennis, table tennis, soccer and volleyball
- Youth: cooking and baking, HIGH FIVE, email etiquette, public speaking, resume building and interview skills, fitness, karate, taekwondo, computer programming, skating, archery, basketball and badminton
- Adult: painting, Zumba, tai chi, HIIT, Queenax, weight and muscle training, Pilates, yoga, ballroom dancing, belly dancing, Bollywood dancing, Latin dancing, line dancing, guitar, skating, archery, multi-sport (women), racquet sports (badminton, pickleball and tennis) and Vaughan Sports Leagues (ball hockey, slo-pitch and volleyball)
- Older Adult: Zumba, DanceFIT, ArthritisFIT, ChairFIT, OsteoFIT, SeniorFIT, qigong, tai chi, muscle conditioning, yoga, chair yoga, Pilates, line dancing and pickleball
- Inclusion: programs for kids, youth and adults with disabilities, such as dancing, adaptive gymnastics, music, arts and crafts, sports, skating, reading, writing and math
- Workshops for all ages: nutrition workshops, Easter painting workshop, Earth Day arts and crafts, Mother’s Day afternoon tea, Father’s Day cupcake baking, Passover paint your own pottery, youth week, home safety workshop, dinosaur dig workshop, princess party and more

Swim lessons and aquatic leadership courses
Registration for spring swim lessons and aquatic leadership courses opens at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, and the session starts on Saturday, March 22 at all Vaughan community centre pools.
Learn-to-swim programming starts at ages four months old for parents with tots and runs up to levels specifically designed for adult non-swimmers. Training and certification in aquatic leadership courses for ages 13 years and older is aimed at preparing youth for employment as a swim instructor or lifeguard.
