Register your kids for Nov. 17 programming

Do your kids have plans for the upcoming PA Day on Friday, Nov. 17? If not, we have you covered! The City of Vaughan is offering full-day programming for children aged three to 14 years old at select community centres. Pre-registration is required at vaughan.perfectmind.com.

Programs and camps include:

Disney Inspired Fitness Fun (for ages three to five)

Bring some magic to your workout with Disney-inspired exercises! Get up and move, stretch, jog and jump to Disney music. Giggles and dressing like your favourite Disney character are encouraged. Fitness has never been more fun!

Hands on Robotics: EV3 NXT (for ages nine to 12)

Delivered in partnership with Logic Fusion

Enter the exciting world of LEGO® robotics! Build several robots based on one of these themes: animals (creatures of all kinds) or transportation (cars and vehicles). Grasp concepts on building structures, sensors, gearing and learn fun facts about the robots along the way.

Mission to Mars: Robotics, Orbiters and Landers (for ages seven to 12)

Delivered in partnership with Engineering for Kids

Learn all about NASA’s robotic missions to Mars! Examine the anatomy of various orbiters and landers, just like a NASA scientist or engineer, to gain an understanding of how these robots play an important role in advancing our understanding of the Red Planet and paving the way for human exploration.

Paint Your Own Pottery: Flower Pot (for ages three to 14)

Delivered in partnership with Mess for Fun

All fired up to create beautiful art on your day off school? Paint your own one-of-a-kind piece of pottery. Apply your unique artistic style with pottery paint and leave your finished creative gem with us. Afterwards, we will glaze and fire your pottery in a kiln. The completed masterpiece will be packaged and ready for pick-up the following week at your respective community centre. Note: Workshop includes one ‘ready to paint’ themed pottery piece and supplies. Children aged three to six years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

PC Video Game Creation (for ages eight to 12)
Delivered in partnership with Kids Great Minds
Want to create your own PC games? Using a visual programming language and an entirely icon-based interface made specifically for creating games, this step-by-step course teaches children with no previous knowledge of programming how to run their own games on a PC.

School’s Out! (for ages seven to 12)

Looking for a fun way to pass your P.A. Day? Enjoy a day of camp activities including games, sports, arts & crafts, outdoor play and special events while making new friends!

Stop Motion Animation (for ages seven to 12)

Delivered in Partnership with Film Camp in a Box

Fill your P.A. Day with action, adventure and a lot of comedy in this Claymation and Lego animation workshop. Mentored by master filmmakers, participants will engage in hands-on exploration of the stop motion animation process, including pre-production, production and post-production. Working in small crews, they will learn about set design, script writing and editing. Participants will then create their own stop motion animation and edit a short film complete with sound effects, music, voice and special effects. Everyone receives a copy of the finished product upon completion of the program.
