Two weeks left to nominate someone to the Order of Vaughan
Time is running out to nominate someone you know for the 2023 Order of Vaughan, the highest honour the City may bestow on an individual who exemplifies extraordinary citizenship. Submit your nominations by Friday, Sept. 1!
Once the nomination period has closed, the Order of Vaughan Selection Committee will review nominations and recommend successful candidates to Council for approval. The 2023 Order will be presented by Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council during an official investiture ceremony later this year.
The award was created to pay tribute to individuals who have made a meaningful impact on Vaughan’s civic life, and dedicated their time and talent to the city’s ongoing success. In its first year, which coincided with the City’s 25th anniversary, 25 recipients were invested into the Order. In subsequent years – and for 2023 – up to 10 nominees may be eligible to receive the award. Since its inception in 2015, 58 remarkable individuals have been invested into the Order.
The award recognizes leaders within the following categories: arts and entertainment, media and communications, athletics, health and wellness, business, philanthropy, public service, education, science and technology, not-for-profit, equity and diversity, accessibility, environment and spirituality.
To be eligible, a nominee must be a living person at the time of nomination and have dedicated their time, talent and resources for the betterment of Vaughan. An individual does not need to reside in Vaughan to be eligible. Nominations will not be accepted for staff currently employed by the City of Vaughan or current elected public office holders at the federal, provincial or municipal levels. Self-nominations will also not be accepted. View additional eligibility criteria and the online application package at vaughan.ca/OrderOfVaughan.
