The City of Vaughan, along with residents, local schools and businesses, teamed up to give Vaughan a 20-Minute Makeover on Friday, April 19. Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council joined students and staff from Glen Shields Public School to launch this year’s event.

“We saw another year of exceptional support from our residents, businesses and young people for Vaughan’s 20-Minute Makeover,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “Our community has a proven track-record of civic-minded and socially responsible citizens who are dedicated to protecting and improving our environment. I want to thank everyone who participated in this year’s event, and for their commitment to keeping Vaughan green and clean.”

Each year, one school is chosen from one of the City’s five wards to host the community cleanup, which involved a 20-minute cleanup in surrounding neighbourhoods beginning at 2 p.m. The event was held as an early celebration of Earth Day, which is Monday, April 22.

More than 9,200 people took part in this year’s cleanup, including 27 schools, members of the business community, and City staff. The City of Vaughan provided garbage bags and gloves for registered groups.
