Vaughan ranks high in Citizen survey results

City scores 97 per cent rating in 2018 Citizen Satisfaction Survey

The results are in from the 2018 Citizen Satisfaction Survey and 97 per cent of residents agree – the quality of life is good in the city of Vaughan. The majority of citizens cite a strong sense of community and belonging, with 92 per cent saying they are proud to be from Vaughan and 91 per cent saying it is a welcoming city.

The City has conducted its Citizen Satisfaction Survey since 2007 and has consistently received high satisfaction rates – often scoring above the national average – for a variety of municipal service offerings including fire services, libraries, recreation, arts and culture, park and greenspace maintenance, and waste collection. In 2018, the highest satisfaction score – an astonishing 100 per cent – was awarded to the dedicated firefighters of Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service (VFRS).
 
Vaughan Public Libraries is also among the highest rated, scoring 96 per cent. In 2018, the City celebrated the opening of Vaughan’s 10th public library branch, Vellore Village Public Library, demonstrating the City’s commitment to investing in new resources, programming and technology for the community to enjoy for generations to come.
 
Vaughan continues to work to maintain these areas of strength as they correlate to the City’s commitment to Service Excellence and Term of Council priorities. This focus on enhancing the citizen experience is reflected in the positive responses from residents – 91 per cent are pleased with the overall delivery of City services. In addition, with one of the lowest tax rates in the Greater Toronto Area, 82 per cent of Vaughan residents believe they get good value for their tax dollars.

  • Since 2007, the City has conducted citizen surveys to assess satisfaction with existing programs and services, and to prioritize areas to improve municipal service delivery. Public input compiled from this survey is a key driver for decision-making, informing policy decisions, budgetary spending and continuous improvement.
  • From June to July 2018, Ipsos, on behalf of the City of Vaughan, conducted approximately 800 statistically significant telephone surveys to get input from residents on quality of life, delivery of City services, use of tax dollars, communications and digital services.
