Vaughan’s Advance Vote begins next week!
Vote online in the 2022 Municipal Election from Oct. 6 to
Oct. 20
The Advance Vote for the 2022 Municipal Election is less than one
week away! New to this year’s election, you can vote online from Thursday,
Oct. 6 until Thursday, Oct. 20.
Cast your vote from the
comfort of home or while you’re on the go by using a supported device and a
stable internet connection. Online voting is secure, accessible and convenient.
Want to know how it
works? Below are some frequently asked questions and answers about the online voting
process during the Advance Vote. You can also watch the City of Vaughan’s
step-by-step video on how to vote online.
How do I know if I am
eligible to vote?
To be eligible to vote
in the 2022 Municipal Election, you must be:
- a Canadian citizen.
- over the age of 18.
- either a resident of the city of Vaughan, or an owner or tenant of property within the city, or the spouse of an owner or tenant of property in Vaughan.
- not prohibited from voting under any law.
How
can I vote online?
To vote
online during the Advance Vote, visit vaughan.ca/elections and click on the “Vote”
button. To access the online voting platform, you must be on the Voters’ List.
If you are, you will have received a Voter Information Letter in the mail. This
letter includes your credentials and a secure PIN that allows you access to the
Advance Vote platform. You will use this PIN to log into the platform and each
step will be outlined as you move through the tool.
If you registered to vote after Wednesday, Sept.
7, you will not receive your Voter Information Letter in the mail and must pick one up
from Vaughan City Hall located at 2141 Major Mackenzie Dr. or at a Voter
Assistance Centre.
I don’t have access to a device or internet
connection. Can I still vote online?
Yes. There are several ways to vote if you cannot
vote online. From Thursday, Oct. 6 until Thursday, Oct. 20, the City of Vaughan
will staff five Voter Assistance Centres, which will provide internet voting kiosks for those voters who do not
have access to a device or internet in order to participate in the Advance
Vote.
In addition to the staffed Voter Assistance Centres, internet voting kiosks
will be setup at all Vaughan
Public Libraries locations to allow voters without
access to a computer or internet to participate in the Advance Vote. These
locations are not staffed with election officials, so no Voters’ List additions
or revisions can be processed at these sites. Vaughan Public Libraries staff can
provide support if you need assistance navigating the internet voting system.
The other option is to vote at a polling station
on Voting Day, which is Monday, Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. (please note
that some locations may operate on reduced hours on Voting Day, check your
Voter Information Letter for details). Your Voting Day voting location will be
noted on your Voter Information Letter.
