Vaughan’s drinking water gets a perfect score!
Read the 2024 Annual Drinking Water System Report
The City of Vaughan provides safe and reliable drinking water to residents and businesses – and the results speak for themselves! Once again, Vaughan received a 100 per cent inspection rating from the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP).
The MECP regularly inspects municipal residential drinking water systems to assess compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act, 2002. Each year, the City produces a full report (PDF) on the water quality and operational performance of Vaughan’s drinking water system – including the 100 per cent inspection rating that was captured in the MECP 2023-2024 Chief Drinking Water Inspector Annual Report.
Here are some other highlights from the 2024 report:
Drinking Water Quality Management Systems must be re-accredited every three years by the MECP. The City’s Drinking Water Quality Management System was most recently re-accredited on June 19, 2024. Additionally, the City’s Municipal Drinking Water License was renewed on May 15, 2024.
- The City collected more than 4,000 water samples in 2024.
In 2024, the City invested $13.6 million to install, repair and replace the infrastructure required to deliver safe drinking water.
Nearly 45 million cubic metres of water was supplied to residential, industrial, commercial and institutional locations across Vaughan last year.
The 2024 Annual Drinking Water System Report (PDF), which was ratified at the March 25 Council meeting, shows the City’s commitment to achieving the highest standards for Vaughan’s drinking water system – and our work is ongoing.
The City continues to invest in infrastructure to help maintain, enhance and protect the drinking water system for residents today and for generations to come. City staff continue to put the community’s health and safety first by ensuring the delivery of safe and reliable drinking water meets the daily demands of this growing city.
