Introducing you to … our By-law and Compliance, Licensing and Permit Services team!
The City of Vaughan is introducing you to some of the teams that work hard to support the residents and businesses that call this vibrant community home! Today, we’re sharing everything there is to know about the City’s By-law and Compliance, Licensing and Permit Services (BCLPS) department.
Do you run a business in Vaughan? Have you ever hosted a special event, owned a pet or done construction projects in or around your home? If so, the City’s BCLPS team may have helped you get the necessary license or permit. This team is also responsible for investigating by-law-related complaints and enforcing City by-laws that are put in place to ensure a safe and orderly community for everyone who lives, works and plays in Vaughan.
The department has three teams: Vaughan Animal Services, Enforcement Services, and Policy and Business Planning.
Learn more about each:
Vaughan Animal Services
Vaughan Animal Services is dedicated to creating a safe community for pets, their owners and all residents. Services include dog and cat licensing, animal control by-law education, pick up of injured or sick dogs, cats and wildlife (as well as stray dogs), reuniting owners with lost pets and pet adoption. Learn more at vaughan.ca/AnimalServices.
Enforcement Services
The Enforcement Services team is responsible for enforcing the City's regulatory by-laws, which are created to ensure a high quality of life for everyone living in, working in and visiting our city. They do this by mitigating risks to public health and safety, protecting consumers and establishing community standards. How? By responding to complaints, patrolling the community and keeping a visible community presence. By-law officers are available 24-7! They also engage with the public to share information and provide education. Learn more at vaughan.ca/bylaw.
Policy and Business Planning
This team is responsible for reviewing existing by-laws and creating new ones to address community needs and concerns. They also work to ensure by-law service levels are measured and provide the best value possible for taxpayers.
