What is the City’s Transportation Youth Ambassador Program?

In alignment with Mayor Steven Del Duca’s Nine Point Action Plan To Fight Traffic Gridlock, the City’s Transportation Youth Ambassador Program offers youth a platform to share their thoughts on Vaughan’s road network, how to improve the flow of traffic and offer innovative transportation solutions.

Through the program, student ambassadors will gain real-life work experience at Vaughan City Hall working alongside various departments in the City including the Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering teams, and develop important skills such as leadership, time management, teamwork and critical thinking.

The program is an outreach initiative led by Vaughan’s youth, for youth. It provides participants the opportunity to speak with their peers about their challenges with transportation in Vaughan and work together to find solutions. The program includes into a co-op partnership with high schools in Vaughan.

Vaughan’s Transportation Youth Ambassadors Program has led to a greater representation of youth voices in municipal transportation decision-making and help nurture young leaders in the community.
