What’s your vision for North Maple Regional Park?
North Maple Regional Park (NMRP) is the City of Vaughan’s largest and most ambitious park project. Work to transform the site into a signature destination is well underway – and we’re calling on you to have a say!
As Phase 2 of construction wraps up in the park, the City is beginning to create the NMRP Master Plan. This long-term plan will outline development, programming and management for the full 900-acre site. It will focus on future park areas that are currently not available for public use.
The City’s vision for NMRP includes conducting environmental work to restore the land, and creating greenspaces, trails, amenities and recreation areas to be enjoyed for generations to come. The Master Plan will focus on three key pillars – restore, engage, play – and include activities for restoring nature, opportunities to build community, and providing spaces for active living and play. The process to develop the Master Plan will take approximately two years to complete.
So, what’s your vision for NMRP? Tell us what activities, programming and amenities you would like to see there! Here’s how you can get involved:
Join the community advisory committee
A NMRP Community Advisory Committee is being created, which will include up to 25 members from the public who will act as an advisory panel to provide feedback that will help shape the future of the park. The group will meet four times throughout the planning process.

The development of NMRP
In April 2018, Council endorsed the vision to develop NMRP into a signature 900-acre park with outstanding recreation and culture opportunities. The full park vision will be built in several stages over the coming years.
In 2018, 80 hectares (197 acres) of parkland opened to the public with the following facilities:
- two FIFA-certified artificial turf soccer fields with built-in spectator seating
- picnic areas with shade shelters and seating
- a toboggan hill
- an asphalt parking area with room for 200 vehicles
- a variety of walking and hiking trails
A park pavilion with a terrace, washrooms, and changerooms opened in 2019.
Current construction efforts, including site grading, servicing and environmental restoration, are focused on preparing 52 hectares (130 acres) of parkland for future development of new recreational facilities and amenities, including Vaughan’s first cricket field, major event lawn, and upcoming Family Recreation Area.
