Service Vaughan answers the top five resident questions received in April

Every month, the City releases common questions received and responded to by Service Vaughan in a series called ‘You Asked, We Answered.’ Below are the top five inquiries from April:

 

1. When are park amenities and facilities opening?

 

Many of Vaughan’s park amenities and facilities are now open for your enjoyment!

 

Amenities that are open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. weather pending, include:

 

  • Baseball diamonds
  • Basketball courts
  • Benches, gazebos and picnic tables
  • Bocce courts
  • Natural soccer fields
  • Off-leash dog parks
  • Outdoor fitness stations
  • Parking lot gates
  • Pathways and trails
  • Playgrounds
  • Skateboard parks
  • Synthetic soccer fields
  • Tennis courts
  • Volleyball courts
  • Washrooms

 

Starting Monday, May 22, splashpads will be open on weekends only. As of Saturday, July 1, splashpads will be open daily for the summer. Please note, splashpad openings are subject to weather and surface conditions.

2. Why is there so much construction happening in Vaughan? Who can I call to learn more about the work being done?

 

York Region has scheduled road improvements throughout Vaughan to accommodate population growth, improve traffic flow, extend the life of roads and bridges and enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists. Safely conducting these improvements is a priority, along with minimizing disruptions as much as possible. 3. When are my interim property taxes due and how can I pay them?

 

The 2023 interim property tax bills for residential and non-residential properties have been mailed out to all property owners. The final payment due date for the third instalment for all properties is Monday, May 29.

 

If you do not receive your tax bill in the mail, contact the City immediately by phone at 905-832-2281 or by email at service@vaughan.ca.

 

As all City facilities are cashless, here’s how you can pay interim property tax bills:

 

  • Pre-authorized payment plans, including a six-instalment and a 10-instalment option.
  • Post-dated cheques made payable to the City of Vaughan that correspond with the amounts and due dates printed on the tax stubs.
  • Financial institutions, either in-person, through the bank machine, online or via telephone.
  • At City Hall, placed in marked drop-off boxes at each entrance.
  • By mail, with a cheque payable to the City of Vaughan and sent in the return envelope enclosed with the tax bill.

4. Does the City provide water shut-off and turn-on services?

 

Yes! If your property is undergoing repairs or renovations, you can request the water supply to your home be turned on or off. Non-emergency requests must be made four to six weeks before shut off or turn on is required. You can complete this request in two ways:

5. How can I register my kids for summer camps?

 

Registration for the City’s summer camps is well underway, so visit vaughan.perfectmind.com to book your child’s spot today!

 

Summer camps for children aged four to 16 years old begin on Tuesday, July 4 with one- and two-week sessions running until Friday, Sept. 1. Camps are located at Vaughan community centres, heritage homes, parks, the City Playhouse Theatre and Vaughan Studios and Event Space. The City’s summer camp lineup offers more than 75 unique camps and 25 new camps for kids with specialties in creative, culinary and performing arts, enrichment, leadership, recreation, sports, outdoor adventures and water adventures. For more information on summer camps, view the digital brochure or visit vaughan.ca/camps.
