Let’s work together to keep Vaughan clean
It’s summer, and many people in Vaughan are embracing the great outdoors! When you’re out and about enjoying the city’s many parks and open spaces, say NO to littering and dumping. Let’s all work together to keep our neighbourhoods safe, clean and beautiful.
Help save water outdoors
We’re in peak summer heat, which means water demand is at an all-time high. If you’re watering your lawn, plants or garden, remember the City of Vaughan’s Water By-law 106-2022 (PDF) limits outdoor water use annually from May 15 until Sept. 30. We want to ensure an uninterrupted supply of water for everyone – and help you save money on your water bills!
What is and isn’t recyclable
Are you ever unsure what can and can’t be recycled? Look no further – we have many tools and resources to help ensure you’re well-equipped for your next collection day!
To start, here are some items that CAN go in the blue box:
Help clear leaves from catch basins to prevent flooding
While they may ‘catch’ some leaves and other materials, catch basins need to be cleared to allow rainwater to drain properly!
Catch basins are stormwater drains located in the road, and they ensure rainwater makes its way back into ponds, streams and lakes. But if a catch basin is blocked or covered by yard materials or debris when it’s raining, water can pool and cause flooding.
