You may think there are many household substances and items that can be flushed down the toilet. But in fact, the City of Vaughan’s sanitary sewer system is not designed to dispose of anything beyond human waste, toilet paper and wastewater. Flushing any other materials down the drains at home can cause damage or plumbing blockages and increase operation and maintenance costs to clean and repair.

As the winter season approaches, it’s a good time to think about your snow removal options. Each year, the City of Vaughan operates an extensive winter services and road maintenance program to help keep the public safe during the winter months. Some residents may require assistance with snow-clearing at their homes – that’s where the Community & Home Assistance to Seniors (CHATS) program comes in, and there’s still time to apply!

What better way to spend the extra hour you have gained today than by taking steps to keep your family and home safe? Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service encourages you to change the batteries in both your smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms every daylight time – in the fall and spring.

The holidays are around the corner, and you may be looking for something your kids can do during the December school break. The City of Vaughan has you covered! Full-day in-person camps for children aged four to 17 years old will be held at select community centres and the Vaughan Studios & Event Space.
