Kleinburg-Nashville Heritage Conservation District

The City of Vaughan originated from the amalgamation of several rural villages: Woodbridge, Kleinburg-Nashville, Maple and Thornhill which, together with surrounding countryside, were incorporated in 1974 to create the Town of Vaughan. These villages were established in the 19th century following a long history of indigenous habitation and First Nations settlement along the river valleys and trails.

Concord West Urban Design Framework + Streetscape Plan

Purpose:

The purpose of the Concord West Urban Design Streetscape Plan is to provide an Urban Design Framework, Streetscape Plan, and Phasing/ Implementation Plan for the Concord West Community.

The study will support Vaughan and York Region Official Plan objectives and be coordinated with the community, Regional vivaNext bus rapid transitway planned for Highway 7, and the York Region "Class Environmental Assessment Study for Keele Street from Steeles Avenue to Rutherford Road".

 

Carrville District Centre Urban Design Guidelines + Streetscape Plan

Purpose:

The purpose of the Carrville District Centre Urban Design Streetscape Master Plan Study was to prepare Urban Design Guidelines and Detailed Streetscape Master Plans to guide future development in accordance with the Urban Design policies of the Carrville District Plan OPA 651. This study establishes the layout and detailed design of the public and private streetscape spaces, pedestrian and bicycle connections, public amenities and open spaces, as well as criteria for building locations, forms, heights and massing in relation to the public realm.

Tree Planting

The City of Vaughan is partnering with Local Enhancement and Appreciation of Forests (LEAF), a not-for-profit organization, to deliver a pilot program to grow Vaughan's tree canopy. The LEAF's Backyard Tree Planting program, you can access expert advice and planting services to ensure your future trees thrive for years to come. 

 

Vaughan Urban Design Awards

The awards reflect the community’s commitment to quality and innovation in city building.

Every five years, the City of Vaughan invites urban designers, architects, landscape architects, planners, engineers, developers, contractors, landowners and the general public to submit projects for consideration for the Vaughan Urban Design Awards. Submissions were accepted from May to September 2022.

Since the inception of the Vaughan Urban Design Awards in 2008, 36 projects have been awarded.
